Zack Dugue

Hi, I'm Zack Dugue.

I'm from South Dakota and currently a senior at Caltech majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. I'm planning to further my education with a PhD in CS with my area of study being Machine Learning. In my opinion, the study of thinking machines is the pinnacle of scientific endeavors, because it seeks to replicate the very mind that drives the scientific process. I have a passion for it because it is a beautiful mix of science and engineering. There is a great deal of linear algebra and probability theory in Machine Learning, but it is also fundamentally an empirical science. You don't really know if something will work until you try it. There are many interesting unanswered questions in the field and that exploration is my fun.
